Modeling the Effect of Vaccination on a Population
by Betsy Hemminger - In this activity, students learn about the history and biological process of vaccination and herd immunity, and use a simulation to track immunity and infection rates in a population. In this simulator, students modify the percentage of vaccinated individuals by moving the scroll bar to the desired spot to change the percentage of vaccination in the community. They then can analyze the graph and data table to determine the percent vaccination needed for this population to acquire herd immunity.
